Classical Ballet – RAD
With over 13,000 members’ spread across 83 countries, The Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) is one of the largest and most influential dance education and training organisations in the world.
Established in 1920, to improve standards and re-invigorate dance training initially within the UK, the Academy helps and encourages its teachers to perfect their teaching skills and pass on this knowledge to their students.
The Academy maintains close links with all those involved in the industry, at every level, from the internationally recognised ‘Faculty of Education’ degree programmes, to those younger students, participating in RAD summer schools. En Pointe’s Artistic Director Leticia Webb, trained in the RAD method and went onto to gain her Registered teaching status with Distinction in 1998.
Tap Dance – Glenn Wood Tap
Consisting of 9 levels (beginner to professional) Glenn Wood Tap – is designed for both teaching tap dance and evaluating tap dance. What sets it apart from other syllabi is that it is founded on solid technique, whilst being fluid, relaxed and enjoyable.
Each level contains a complete programme of tap dance containing individual steps, combinations, performance quality routines as well as barre activities and turning technique activities.
It’s a dynamic tap dance syllabus that is fun to teach and for the students to learn. The syllabus engenders a love and appreciation of tap dance and prepares tap dancers for a professional future. The syllabus has an excellent technique base which prepares students for exams.
En Pointe Dance Centre is a registered Glenn Wood Tap studio and conducts annual examinations.
At En Pointe, we consider Jazz to be an ever changing dance genre and therefore non syllabus classes are offered. We believe the money you would have spent on Jazz exams, is better utilised in engaging Industry professionals to provide up-to-date workshops for our students. We offer ever changing dance combinations to fresh, top-of-the-charts music and once combinations are mastered we move on to new engaging and motivating moves. Children are taught jazz in a fun, stimulating way, rather than following a repetitive out-of-date method.
